There's a specific afternoon every year — usually the first one where the light turns gold a little earlier than it did the week before — when I stop resisting and just do the reset. Not a redecorate. Not a shopping spree. A reset: the handful of swaps that take a bright, breezy summer room and turn it into somewhere you actually want to be once it's dark by six.
