There’s no universal sizing standard in fashion — every brand builds its own size chart based on its own fit model and target customer, so a Medium at one brand can match a Small or Large at another. Fabric also matters: stretch fabrics fit more forgivingly than rigid ones, even within the same brand and size.

Zara generally runs small, especially in tailored pieces like blazers, trousers, and dresses. Knits and basic items tend to have more give and run closer to true to size.

Old Navy has historically run large and somewhat unpredictably, though the brand has worked to improve sizing consistency in recent years. Checking the specific item’s reviews is more reliable than relying on the size label alone.

A capsule wardrobe is a small, intentional set of clothing pieces designed to mix and match with each other, so most tops pair with most bottoms. The goal is to reduce decision fatigue and eliminate the “closet full of clothes, nothing to wear” problem.

There’s no fixed number, but a workable starter capsule typically includes 8-10 core pieces — a versatile pair of jeans, a blazer, a neutral sweater, a button-down, one dress, one outerwear piece, and 1-2 pairs of shoes — chosen so they combine into 5+ distinct outfits.

Product photos can’t show insole cushioning, arch support, or how a shoe’s structure interacts with foot shape, so comfort claims from photos alone are unreliable. Reading reviews that specifically mention all-day wear or foot pain is a better comfort signal than styling photos.

Product photos are frequently color-corrected or shot under studio lighting that shifts the actual shade, so the safest check is reading recent customer reviews and looking at customer-submitted photos, which are typically shot in normal lighting.

“True to size” means the item’s labeled size matches standard body measurement charts for that size, with no significant runs small or large adjustment needed. It’s brand- and category-specific, so a brand described as true to size in dresses may still run small in denim.
