Coffee is not optional. A stovetop percolator that works right over the fire means I'm not choking down instant granules out of a foil packet like it's an emergency. And a good insulated mug keeps it hot long enough to actually enjoy the view while I drink it.

Layering matters more outdoors than anywhere else — a fleece-lined flannel jacket handles the cold mornings and still looks like something, not just a garbage bag with sleeves. And a solid packable camp chair means I'm not perched on a log wondering why my back hurts.

None of this makes you less outdoorsy. It makes you the person who actually wants to go back. That's the whole point of comfortable camping — you stop gritting your teeth through it and start looking forward to it.
